Following on from our successful Easter Egg trail, we are now running a summer special in line with the release of Toy Story 4 with three exciting challenges for children. The trail and competitions will run through the next few weeks.
Visit our Facebook page from Friday 12th July and find our competition post where you can comment with your favourite film and why. We will then select a winner at random to win a £25 voucher to use at Vue cinemas.
Download our picture from our website, colour it in and drop it in to our office (during working hours) with your child's name, age and parent contact details between 15 - 29th July. We will then choose a winner who will receive a £25 voucher for Vue cinemas.
From Friday 2nd August there will be pictures of Toy Story 4 characters in windows of businesses on Walnut Road for children (and parents) to find and write down the names. When the trail is completed, please pop in to our office (during working hours) to collect a small prize. This will run for a week leading up to the Walnut Street Party.
Each year over 700 people attend the Walnut Road Street Party. It's not just for locals, everyone is welcome, with friends and relatives from miles away coming along year after year. There is plenty to do for the children with face painting, childrens disco and entertainment, childrens games and traditional fancy dress competition. There is also lots of opportunities for the adults to spend their money on the BBQ and Bar, charity auction, raffle, tombolas and side shows.
The daytime stalls and entertainment run from 2pm through till 5.30 with music right through till the evening. The main evening entertainment starts around 7pm with the Charity Auction, raffle draw and music, with people dancing in the pub garden until the end of the evening. We are supporting this event by providing a raffle prize to the value of £25 and look forward to seeing everyone there.
All the profits from the event are currently donated to Rowcroft Hospice. Since the event started 12 years ago, over £30,000 has been raised for Charity. Now that’s something for the Chelston Community to be proud of.
